Have you found out yet how hard it is to go out to eat if you have to eat gluten free? I love Italian food, but going to an Italian restaurant in particular is always a struggle. I don’t have celiac disease but I am gluten intolerant so I have to stay away from all that bread and pasta. I have found that they most of the time they have bean soup, salads, and side dishes of vegetables that can be ordered without pasta. I found that Nino’s Italian restaurant in Baton Rouge  has gluten free pasta. They don’t advertise it, but you can ask for it. It could be that many Italian restaurants have gluten free pasta but don’t advertise it because it makes them look like they cater to a specialty audience. We need to start asking for gluten free pasta more. I love the typical Italian dishes with a red sauce but it is frustrating when you can’t order any because it is ladled over regular pasta. I suppose I could order the dish and ask for the pasta be on the side and not eat it. I might try that next. Another restaurant in Baton Rouge that has gluten free pasta is Oscar’s Pizza and Ice Cream. They are working on a gluten free pizza dough as well. So maybe next time I go, they will have gluten free pizza available. Domino’s has gluten free pizza crust and it’s not bad. I usually make my own gluten free pizza when I have a hankering for one.
